JOB TITLE: Core Site Director (Regional Dean)
SUPERVISOR: Reports to the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The primary duty is the oversight of core clinical rotations for third-year medical students at the site. Responsible for oversight of teaching and clinical experiences provided by the clinical faculty. Serves as an advisor to students and provides guidance in obtaining residency positions. Supports KansasCOM by assisting in curriculum development, OMM instruction, and student selection for rotations.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work as part of a collaborative team to serve the school’s educational mission.
- Provide on-campus teaching in areas consistent with their expertise.
- Develop learning goals and objectives for lectures, seminars, and grand rounds.
- Assure the integration of osteopathic principles and practices in all materials.
- Select and develop clinical faculty to oversee core clinical rotations.
- Work with the Assistant Dean for Clinical Education and Director of Rotations to schedule all third-year core rotations.
- Confirm availability annually of rotations and clinical faculty in these core sites annually.
- Work with KansasCOM faculty to find replacement rotations and faculty for canceled rotations.
- Participate in developing a formal third-year curriculum for the rotations, presented online and in person.
- Address concerns related to student performance and advise on improvement as needed. Involve Assistant Dean for Clinical Education as necessary.
- Serve as the point of contact and resource for students with questions regarding the rotations, curriculum, cases, and end-of-rotation exams, including site and preceptor concerns.
- Provide faculty development on efficiently incorporating students into ambulatory and hospital settings.
- Provide ongoing assessment and quality improvement through periodic onsite visits (minimum of annually).
- Periodically deliver CME lectures for the students on rotations.
- Assist students in identifying fourth-year rotations with residency sites and assist in placements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise clinical staff preceptors and medical students.
QUALIFICATION(S): DO or MD Degree
KEY COMPETENCIES:
