Full Time

This position provides leadership and supervision for the Tutoring and Learning Center, Distance Education (including TN eCampus and Columbia State Online course development and Live Streaming support), Media Services, Faculty Professional Development, and Center for Teaching and Learning Position will also coordinate high impact practice (HIP) initiatives and delivery. 

Essential Functions: 

  1. Oversee and coordinate TN eCampus activities for the college.  

  1. Interpret and assure implementation and compliance in the areas supervised with Tennessee Board of Regent (TBR), Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC), National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) and Columbia State policies 

  1. Represent the college at TBR Distance Education Committee meetings 

  1. Initiate the introduction and adoption of emerging technologies to existing pedagogical practices 

  1. Lead the instructional design team (IDT) to provide guidance, mentoring, and assistance to the on-line course development process. 

  1. Coordinate the development, review, and approval of on-line courses. 

  1. Collaborate with academic division deans and TN eCampus officials to offer on-line courses. 

  1. Recruit part-time TN eCampus faculty and recommend to division deans. 

  1. Upload and maintain faculty credentials in the TN eCampus database portal 

  1. Address questions and issues that arise with TN eCampus faculty, students and courses 

  1. Maintain TN eCampus websites 

  1. Serve as the liaison between the college and postsecondary partners delivering instruction at the Columbia campus, including scheduling their classrooms and resolving student grievances. 

  1. Be familiar with the various tools, services, and technology, and other related academic support strategies 

  1. Oversee Tutoring Centers and activities college-wide 

  1. Assure that faculty have the knowledge and skills to adapt course materials to be in compliance with ADA 504 and TBR mandates. 

  1. Coordinate high impact practices and other effective student engagement pedagogies to ensure maximum impact on student success. 

  1. Supervise and evaluate staff in the areas assigned.  

  1. Prepare and submit reports, as required by the institution and/or state agencies, for the areas supervised.  

  1. Determine staffing needs and work with the Vice President for Academic Affairs to recruit, hire, and evaluate staff with an emphasis on maintaining diversity in the areas supervised.   

  1. Develop and manage or oversee the management of the budgets in the areas supervised.  

  1. Recommend employment and termination of staff in assigned areas to the Vice President for Academic Affairs 

  1. Assure continued compliance of the areas supervised with criteria for accreditation of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS-COC).

Job Specifications: 

Education, Training and Experience Required: 

  1. Master's degree minimum, doctorate preferred 

  1. Minimum of five years full-time experience including at least three years (preferably at the community college level) supervising online/asynchronous learning, course development and ; high impact practice inclusion in higher education curriculum.   

  1. Supervision of academic support areas and oversight of high impact practices and other effective student engagement pedagogies 

  1. Demonstrated expertise in instructional design   

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics: 

  1. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the general public 

  1. Ability to work effectively as a team member 

  1. Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English    

  1. Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills 

  1. Demonstrated ability in planning, evaluation, and budgeting 

  1. Ability to establish and maintain liaison relationships with appropriate external organizations and agencies 

  1. Exemplary organizational and administrative skills 

  1. Excellent computer application skills 

  1. Experience in the supervision of instructional technologists and/ or instructional designers 

  1. Ability to coordinate multiple projects through completion 

  1. Enthusiasm and adaptability in an organizational culture that values continuous improvement and change 

Working Conditions:

  1. Normal sitting and movement in an office environment 

  1. Visual and hand usage of computer 

  1. Travel to Tennessee Board of Regents offices, off-campus instructional locations, and other areas for meetings and other job-related activities  

  1. Work hours vary

Hiring Salary Range:  $ $63,400- $79,250

This position is based at the Columbia, TN Campus.
