Job Summary
The Gatton College of Business and Economics is seeking a new Assistant Dean for Administration.
This position reports directly to the dean and serves as a strategic partner on the college’s operating committee and the Gatton Senior Operations team. This leadership oversees a team accountable for the financial and human resource management of the college. Areas of responsibility include budgeting, accounting, financial analysis, human resources and risk management. This position will supervise a business office team which strives for continuous improvement through the refinement of business processes. In addition, a critical focus of this team is the provision of outstanding service that is timely, accurate and courteous.
Candidates for this position should have a minimum of eight years of experience in accounting, finance, budgeting and human resource functions at an educational institution, a non-profit organization or private industry. Excellent understanding of financial reporting and account review, as well as an ability to forecast models and use financial data for decision making are a must.
In particular, candidates will need to have demonstrated:
• A track record in budgeting and long-range financial planning
• Success in managing a collaborative team
• A strong background in annual, capital and endowment fund accounting
• Technical competency in not-for-profit accounting, regulation and compliance
• The capacity to explore trends, both within an organization and in the broader context
• An understanding of cost accounting
• Experience with process improvement and policy review
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to use, learn and evaluate financial software systems
• Experience in human resource management
• Dedication to providing exceptional customer service
