Job Description

Five Colleges, Incorporated (FCI) seeks a Digital Applications Specialist to create and support data driven library, archives, and museum systems. The Digital Applications Specialist works in close collaboration with the Five College Library System Coordinator and other colleagues to lead the management and ongoing utilization of the Five College library services platform; archives and museums collection management and digital repository systems; and associated projects.

This is a full-time, exempt, benefited position with Five Colleges, Incorporated. The primary work location for this in-person role is FCI’s main office in Amherst, Massachusetts, but requires frequent in-person interaction with individuals on multiple campuses in the consortium.

FCI is the higher education consortium that supports the excellence of its member campuses — Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith colleges, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst — through extensive academic and administrative collaborations.

The Ideal Candidate

The Digital Applications Specialist works with library, archives, and museum partners to solve technical issues through the design, development, and implementation of software tools and integration; web application development; and programming of library information systems.

You could be a great fit for this position if you:

  • Find satisfaction in understanding digital tools and in building and/or enhancing them
  • Have experience developing web applications
  • Are excited to work with libraries, archives, and museums systems and integrations
  • Are the first one to find the missing character in a script
  • Argue over whether or not join tables are required
  • Have ever gotten lost in a library
  • Can communicate effectively—in person and digitally
