As the director of operations and special projects, you will lead, oversee, and support strategic projects and initiatives across SCAD Atlanta, with a focus on managing and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of processes, partnerships, and events. The ideal candidate will collaborate with SCAD Atlanta department leaders to drive key campus objectives and ensure the successful implementation of initiatives that enhance the student experience. The role requires exceptional project management skills, a passion for innovation in education, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

In this role, you will receive direction from and work closely with the vice president for SCAD Atlanta to develop and implement best practices for project management, communication, and reporting across departments. You will also establish quality control mechanisms to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness with the day-to-day operations of all departments, especially as it relates to scheduling, budgeting, travel and event support requests, school-based project management, and more. Upon project completion, you will analyze project performance, gather data, and prepare detailed reports on project status, challenges, and outcomes for senior leadership.

In addition to high-level project management responsibilities, you will also represent SCAD Atlanta as a professional and visible presence throughout all academic buildings; attend and support SCAD Days, commencement ceremonies, and other university events; and attend departmental, school, and other academic and/or operational meetings as required. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the proven ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. The candidate takes initiative with their independent work while also being a strong team player. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work are vital.

Preferred qualifications:

·  Master’s degree in a related field

·  Attorney with licensing and technology agreement experience; experience developing and/or implementing a legal compliance function; or experience working for an institution of higher education

Minimum qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, or a related field

·  Four to six years of project management experience using software (e.g., Asana, Trello, Microsoft Project) and other tools for tracking and reporting project progress

·  Proven track record of managing large-scale, cross-functional projects from start to finish

·  Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Certificates, licenses and registrations:

·  Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar credential preferred

Travel required:

·  10–20%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
