As the Director of Student Accessibility Servicesyou will manage and facilitate equitable opportunity and access for students with disabilities; serve as subject matter expert and consultant about legal obligations pertaining to the ADAAA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Fair Housing Act, as they correlate to higher education; manage and facilitate temporary medical accommodations for students.

You will receive, review, and analyze current documentation to determine areas of diagnosis and functional limitation; engage in interpersonal student communication regarding their history, diagnosis, and current functional limitations; keep anecdotal records and maintain student case files and confidential student records in accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). You will facilitate clear and consistent steps for students to apply and process reasonable accommodations while guiding constituents on their role in supporting equity and access on campus. 

As the Director of Student Accessibility Servicesyou will serves as a member of the Student Affairs Management team and assist with setting strategic priorities and direction for the department; help ensure departmental goals align with Institute priorities and participate in the budgeting process by identifying project needs and priorities. You will serve on various groups and committees and represent the vice president and department at various meetings/functions as needed.

Qualified candidates will have a master’s degree in social sciences, higher education, or special education and five to seven years of experience working in an Accessibility/Disability Services arena. Must be able to analyze disability documentation including psychometric testing, medical documentation, psychological assessments, self-reports, and/or other relevant information to determine eligibility for specific, appropriate, and reasonable post-secondary education accommodations. Must understand the variance from high school to secondary education accommodations. Must have knowledge of computer and assistive technologies, disability, and accessibility practices and procedures. Must be proficient in counseling and advising techniques. Must have the ability to effectively communicate complex technical matters related to disabilities/accessibility standards, both verbally and in writing. Must have strong analytical, project/process management, organizational, time management, and computer skills and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred candidates will have eight years of experience working in Accessibility/Disability Services in higher education. Preferred candidates will have the ability to work with people from diverse age groups, diverse social, cultural, economic, ethnic, sexual orientations and gender identities, and students of all religious backgrounds.
