Job Summary

The Dosimetrist Clinical provides comprehensive treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy and coordinates associated dosimetry plan procedures with members of the Radiation Oncology team.

The Dosimetrist Clinical has knowledge of the overall characteristics of radiation oncology treatment, imaging equipment and is cognizant of and maintains proficiency in modern treatment planning and delivery procedures used in the Radiation Oncology, including, but not limited to 3DCRT, IMRT, VMAT, SRS/SBRT, and motion management (e.g. respiratory gating and DIBH).

The Dosimetrist Clinical plays a key role in overall quality assurance (QA) efforts by performing radiation dose verifications with additional calculations and measurements, multi-modality image analysis and other physics support such as QA and patient-specific QA measurements and radiation survey, as directed by the Medical Physicist.

Ideal candidates will have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, problem solving mentality, desire for efficiency and safety, and work well in teams. Additionally, they must possess a good understanding of fundamental concepts in patient setup and simulation, contouring, image fusions, treatment planning, and data transfer between the treatment planning system and the Oncology Imaging System(OIS).

Working knowledge of basic Radiation Safety.

Preferred Education/Experience

Certified Medical Dosimetrist certification (CMD) is required within one year of hire. Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree is preferred.
