Please Note

Must possess a valid Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement issued by the State where the applicant resides and must be insurable as defined in the UT System BPM 16-05-02, as applicable to the performance of essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

Finalist must successfully pass a motor vehicle record check and a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

This position is part-time and on an as needed basis.

Purpose of Position

Provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation to all faculty, staff and students.

Essential Functions

Drives and operates University shuttle buses and other vehicles over assigned routes.

Stops at designated points to load and unload passengers.

Assists in the boarding of passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility aids and properly secure wheelchairs and scooters.

Provides service to students, employees and visitors.

Notifies dispatch of deviations, overload, accidents, passenger incidents, medical/behavioral problems, or bus mechanical/electrical trouble.

Checks condition of vehicles and reports needed adjustments or repairs.

Performs minor maintenance, cleaning of vehicles, and fueling vehicles.

Maintains mileage reports.

Completes and submits written reports concerning passengers and all accidents.

Complies with all State and University policies.

Other duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Valid driver's license, CDL Class B with passenger endorsement

Six weeks minimum of commercial driving experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Two (2) years or more of commercial driving experience.

Driving a bus and passenger carrying experience.
