Job Summary

UK Education Abroad & Exchanges (UK EA) is a unit of the International Center within the University of Kentucky that facilitates for-credit global learning programs. The EA Advisor is part of a team of education abroad advisors who support students through the entire study abroad process, from program selection to post-return guidance. Specifically, this advising position plays a key role in the development, management, and delivery of the EAP 599 course, a foundational part of the global learning experience for students. The EA Advisor is responsible for course design, curriculum development, and the continuous improvement of instructional strategies that foster students’ intercultural and career development. This includes overseeing the Canvas course site, updating program materials, and ensuring academic relevance by integrating current pedagogical theories and best practices in online learning. The EA Advisor is also responsible for managing a portfolio of study abroad programs, coordinating program logistics, and maintaining relationships with study abroad providers, partner institutions, and UK faculty. The EA Advisor collaborates with campus partners to promote education abroad opportunities, contributing to campus-wide events, educating college-specific contacts, and fostering strong relationships to support student success. Additionally, the EA Advisor is expected to stay current on national best practices, engage in professional development, and participate in team efforts, strategic initiatives, and committee work to further UK EA’s mission and goals.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Successful candidates will have international education experience, education
abroad/student advising experience, familiarity with intercultural learning, and
successful promotion and outreach experience. Candidates must have excellent
communication and presentation skills, attention to detail, time management
skills, and a high degree of professionalism. Desirable qualities include skills in
outcomes assessment related to education abroad.

Preferred Education/Experience

Masters Degree and three years experience (or equivalency) is required.
Experience in education abroad, advising/counseling and/or international
education is preferred. Familiarityand knowledge of Terra Dotta
software.
