Summary
Embedded clinicians provide culturally competent counseling and psychological services to students enrolled at BGSU, as well as consultation with faculty, staff, families, and others who may be concerned about students. Services may include individual, group, and couples counseling; crisis intervention; consultation; outreach experiences, Let's Talk, and psychoeducation; referral; and liaison activities. Embedded clinicians typically serve as a liaison between the Counseling Center and one or more campus areas. Embedded clinicians work closely with their college/department where they are in a liaison capacity.
Essential Functions
Clinical Services
• Provide culturally competent psychotherapy and counseling for individuals, groups, and/or couples for the BGSU student body
• Engage in clinical consultation with students
• Provide crisis services during normal business office hours
• As the Coordinator of the Ascend Program, provide individual and group therapy services and case management for students enrolled in the program
• Work closely with prescriber for coordination and continuity of care for Ascend Program students
Outreach, Consultation, and Liaison Services
• Engage in third-party consultation with faculty, staff, families, students, and others about mental health concerns impacting students
• Facilitate and/or coordinate outreach and psychoeducational programming
• Perform liaison activities - work collaboratively with staff in offices outside the Counseling Center to identify student needs and develop, provide, and/or coordinate mental health services to meet those needs. May be assigned to specific functional areas. Psychologists may work as a liaison to more than one campus area.
Supervision and Training
• Provide clinical supervision for Counseling Center trainees, who are enrolled in graduate programs in mental health fields and are providing counseling services to students. Supervision is of doctoral level interns enrolled in our APA accredited training program or trainees in masters level graduate programs. This may include trainees working within the higher level of care program.
• Facilitate training seminars and programs for Counseling Center trainees
Administration and Support
• Coordinate or oversee various activities and/or functions in the Center (e.g., group services, outreach programming, training experiences, electronic record-keeping systems)
• Complete documentation and case management in a timely manner
• Complete psychological batteries documentation
• Provide service to the Counseling Center, Division of Student Health and Wellness and University by participating in committee work
• Participation on a Counseling Center committee
• Engage in professional development activities
• Phone calls to coordinate care for Ascend Program
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
One of the following Degree and Licensure is required:
• Master's degree in Counseling with a license as a Professional Clinical Counselor (LPC ) by start date
• Masters Degree in Social Work with a license as a Independent Social Worker (LISW) by start date
• Doctorate degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology by start date
The following Experience is required:
• 1 year of counseling experience
• Doctoral Internship year is acceptable or 1 year of Master's degree internship
The following licenses, certifications, or registrations are required:
• Maintenance of licensure as in the State of Ohio throughout employment period
• Doctoral degrees in Clinical or Counseling Psychology must be licensed as a psychologist within 1 year of hire date
• LPC applicants must obtain LPCC within two years or hiring date
• LPCC applicants must obtain the supervisor credential (LPCC-S) within 12 months of hire
