Job Summary

Through the operation and maintenance of a web-based tracking system, assists in ensuring that the University maintains compliance with all applicable statutes and regulations related to the management of hazardous and special wastes. Supervises the management of regulated medical, pharmaceutical and controlled substance wastes throughout UK HealthCare in compliance with applicable regulations and HealthCare policies. Ensures that hazardous and other special though non-regulated waste streams generated in HealthCare locations is safely moved from generating locations to the appropriate pre-transport locations. Manages On-Campus and Off-Campus waste shipments and invoicing approval. Routine assistance is provided to the generators of the various waste streams a part of requested service support and as a result of routine compliance inspections.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Knowledge of Kentucky and Federal environmental laws and regulations particularly with respect to hazardous waste management. Knowledge of the common Microsoft business management software such as Word, Excel, etc. as well as environmental tracking programs. Able to manage and communicate the principles of environmental management to technical-level staff as well as to professionals in their field such as researchers and academicians.

Preferred Education/Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of education/experience with 6 years of experience preferred.

Driver’s license preferred.
