Job Summary

This is a 10-month full-time faculty position teaching ESL, English composition, and humanities classes. The instructor advises students, maintains office hours, provides internal service to the college as assigned, pursues professional development, and provides leadership where appropriate.

Job Duties:

  • The position will include a variety of courses as needed and requires flexibility of scheduling, which may include evenings, weekends, and a variety of campus locations.

  • You will be required to teach assigned courses following the mode of instruction: in-person, hybrid, or standard online/asynchronous with no required in person meetings.

  • Develop syllabi, course materials, etc.

  • Maintain an updated gradebook on Blackboard, weekly announcements, and timely communication with students throughout the semester.

  • Use computer technology in lectures and online to enhance student learning.

  • Work closely with other Humanities faculty.

  • Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures.

  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.

  • Participate in internal and external service within the college.

  • Engage in an appropriate level of professional development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in English, Creative Writing, or Literature, a foreign language, international studies, linguistics, Teaching English as a Second Language, or Teaching English to Speakers of Other languages (TESOL)

  • If Master’s degree isn’t in English, candidate must have a master’s with 18 graduate semester hours in English AND experience and/or coursework in teaching ESL.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in English
