Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Vice President for of Facilities Management and Chief Facilities Officer for the University of Kentucky, the Executive Director for Facilities Management Campus is directly accountable to provide leadership in planning, developing, and implementing effective and efficient management, maintenance, and operations of University Campus facilities; Develops and delivers long-range programs for the effective stewardship of buildings and facilities, including optimal operation of building mechanical and electrical systems; repair and replacement of building components; implementing world class preventative maintenance and predictive maintenance practices; energy and controls engineering; continual building assessment programs; as well as ensuring an engaged, cost-effective, and cost-efficient custodial, grounds, trucking, and recycling services teams committed to enhancing the beauty of the UK Lexington Campus.
The Executive Director is a key member of the collaborative Facilities Management Senior Leadership Team and an active participant in the aggressive pursuit of departmental strategic initiatives as well as the primary resource for continuous operations on Campus during all emergencies.
In addition, this position negotiates and provides direction regarding contractual obligations between facilities management and outside contractors/vendors, and works in partnership with faculty, staff, students, and others to advance the University’s mission and goals.
The Executive Director establishes and maintains effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, academic departments, administrative offices, and other University of Kentucky representatives as well as public officials, architects, engineers, and contractors; Leads organizational efforts to develop and maintain a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment; Provides and improves workplace safety, ADA accessibility, life safety, and regulatory code compliance.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
MS Windows/ Office; MS Project Manager
Experience at an institution of higher education or at a facility of similar size and scope or equivalent facilities services / operations is preferred; Strong emphasis on construction, building maintenance and operating systems, including elevators, fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, district heating systems, etc.
