Job Summary
The Mining Engineering Department at the University of Kentucky is seeking applicants for a pilot plant technician/operator to support research and development activities, processing operations, fabrication and construction as well as electrical, mechanical and plumbing activities.
Responsibilities include:
- performing processing operations including crushers, grinding mills, screens, cyclones, flotation columns, X-ray sorters, leaching and solvent based separations and others
- cutting, welding, and machining of various materials such as metals and plastics along with general construction activities related to the assembly of fabricated and purchased parts under the supervision of the Principal Investigator
- performing connections for electrical, mechanical and plumbing at the pilot-scale plant

Preferred Education/Experience
A bachelor’s degree or a high school diploma with equivalent experience preferred.
Prior work experience with mining/process engineering equipment in the mining and minerals industry. Experience with solvent-based processes and/or gas-phase processes, including evaporators and condensers. Prior work experience in laboratory and pilot-plant testing programs.
