Job Summary

Position will provide two-way communication with students, families, faculty and staff regarding all stages of the financial aid process. Other responsibilities include managing document processing, storage, and destruction, as well as running and manipulating Excel reports.

Job Duties:

  • Provides assistance to students and parents in person, by phone, virtual meetings, email, tickets, or texts. This would include assistance with FAFSA completion in individual appointments or in a group. Assist with both on and off-campus enrollment activities as needed.
  • Provide assistance to faculty and staff as they serve students with financial aid questions.
  • Runs and reviews Pell reports daily to assist with Pell Grant reconciliation.
  • Processes, scans, and determines retention needs of financial aid documents. This process includes quality assurance and the coordination of records destruction in compliance with the records retention schedule.
  • Contact students whose financial aid refund checks have been returned as non-deliverable. If no contact is able to be made and required updates are not made by the student, inform Financial Aid Coordinators of the need to return funds to the appropriate program.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Business, Human Services, Liberal Arts or equivalent
  • Three years relevant experience
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment as well as external business and community partners, representing his/her self in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and, in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in and understanding of the importance of working with students from diverse populations.
  • Experience working at the community college level.
  • Direct experience in financial aid operation in a higher education setting.
