Job Summary

The University of Kentucky, Office of the Vice President for Student Success is currently seeking a Financial Specialist to assist in the formulation, implementation, monitoring, and review phases of the University’s annual budget process. This position will report to the Financial Specialist Lead in the Student Success Business Office and will be responsible for assisting units in Office for Student Success in the procurement of goods and services in accordance with University procurement policies.



Primary job responsibilities will include: forecast resource needs for various units in Student Success utilizing query various databases such as Tableau and SAP; prepare unit budget reports as part of monthly and annual reconciliation process of University cost centers; procure goods and services in accordance with University procurement policies on behalf of units; build and maintain strong working relationships with unit administrative staff. In addition, this role will routinely assist financial issues with University departments such as Accounts Payables, Purchasing, and Accounting and Financial Reporting Services. This role will collaborate closely with colleagues in the Student Success Business Office to stay abreast of financial and procurement policy updates across campus. The Financial Specialist will assist of fulfillment of team goals and cover responsibilities of other colleagues when needed and think critically to provide innovative ideas for improvements within the business, programs, processes, and procedures in Student Success.



The ideal candidate will have exceptional customer service orientation with strong verbal and written communication, listening, planning, time management, public speaking, and decision-making skills. We are seeking an individual who is influential, motivated with strong interpersonal skills and can build strong working relationships with diverse individuals and groups. This individual must work well independently and within a team environment and possess strong technical skills in SAP, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Position will primarily work normal business hours 8 a.m-5 p.m., Monday-Friday, and is eligible to be considered for a hybrid work schedule following the 90-day employee orientation period.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, SAP, and knowledge of UK business regulations and policies.
