This position is created under the University of Texas System Regents' Research Excellence Program. Faculty hired into the rank of tenured full professor will be given the additional honorific title of Regents' Distinguished Research Professor. Faculty hired at a lower rank will earn this title upon promotion to full professor with tenure.
