Job Summary

The Oral History Center Student Assistant is responsible for a variety of work at the Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History in the Special Collections Division. Specific duties for each job will depend on current projects, initiatives, and priorities and may include:

- Indexing interviews using the OHMS system in accordance with the Nunn Center’s standards and style guides.

- Conducting general research pertaining to interview contents in order to ensure the accuracy and spellings of mentioned names and entities, adding outside research and archival materials to oral history interviews, as well as participating in the research process, production, and implementation of Nunn Center outreach initiatives including social media, podcasts, radio programs, or other special projects and initiatives.

- Describing interviews/collections.

- Data entry.

- Participating in the archival collection inventory process.

- Digitization, editing, and preservation of audio and video.

- Other duties as assigned.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Student must have strong writing skills. Must also have attention for details, editing skills, and the ability to follow department procedures and policies. Must be able to work without close supervision. Must be able to work with materials in different formats. Student must maintain a regular work schedule.

Preferred Education/Experience

Basic computer proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft applications, as well as familiarity with metadata and content management systems such as Blogger, WordPress, and SlideShare.
