Job Summary

The College of Health Sciences, Department of Health and Clinical Sciences is seeking a Graduate Research Assistant to work with Dr. Brandi White on the “Meals that Heal” research study. This is an hourly position for 20 hours per week.  

 

Study Description: “Meals that Heal” is a research study funded by NIH that will develop, disseminate, and evaluate a health information resource for medically underserved, racially minoritized communities. The interactive resource book will provide tailored health information about hypertension risk reduction and the DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension), including culturally relevant and low-cost recipes for hypertension disease prevention or management. The resource book will be marketed to a broader audience through community-based partnerships and networks.  

 

Responsibilities



·         Assist with the day-to-day operations of the study, including scheduling meetings, taking meeting notes, and data management

·         Attend weekly and monthly meetings with the research team and project advisory board

·         Assist with participant recruitment, data collection (e.g., conducting qualitative interviews), and data analysis

·         Other research-related tasks as required



 



Qualifications:



·         Currently enrolled in a graduate program in health communication, health promotion or health behavior, nutritional sciences, nutrition and food systems, public health, or a related field

·         Experience conducting qualitative research 

·         Strong organization and oral/written communication skills, including competency in Microsoft Office 

·         Ability to work independently, follow-up on assignments, and take initiative on projects

·         Preference will be given to applicants who are doctoral students



The student should be able to work 10 hours per week.
