Job Summary

The Human Resources Specialist - Talent Acquisition, reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Talent Acquisition, Development and Engagement, provide a range of recruitment activities. Including strategic candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, outreach, and consulting with hiring managers and senior leaders to foster the College’s mission, culture and values.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for full cycle recruiting support for the College. Serves as a talent acquisition consultant to hiring managers.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that identify well qualified talent pools in an effort to ensure timely hires and manage long-term candidate networking relationships.
  • Develop and implement advertising and social media recruitment strategy. Plan, organize, and implement outreach efforts, and represent the College at recruiting events.
  • Track, maintain and report on recruiting metrics. Frequently and proactively communicate progress on the recruiting lifecycle to hiring managers and recruiting leaders.
  • Develop strong relationships with hiring managers and College leaders to better understand the requirements of open positions and desired candidates. Effectively manage recruiting pipeline based on changing resource needs, organizational, and College priorities.
  • Ensure a fair process free from bias. Facilitate delivery of offers and communicate important employment information to candidates (e.g., benefits, compensation, etc.).
  • Follow up with candidates and hiring managers to obtain feedback regarding recruitment, and continuously improve the recruiting lifecycle and experience for all stakeholders.
  • Seek out, learn and quickly adopt leading industry best practices in talent acquisition. Urgently complete tasks. Participate in special projects to continuously improve talent acquisition performance and talent management.
  • Review and analyze recruiting effort performance metrics. Advise hiring managers on candidate selections based on objective interactions and experiences with successful hires.
  • Assist supervisor in areas of responsibility during peak volumes and/or employee absences. Provide training to employees. Responsible for maintaining accurate employee records. Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain currency with, understand and ensure compliance with Southwest Tennessee Community College and the Tennessee Board of Regents policies, procedures, requirements, and applicable legal regulations that may affect human resources.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Human Resources role, with direct experience in recruitment or talent acquisition.
    • Preferred: Human Resources Recruiter in Higher Education.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, and experience using HRIS applications and analytics.
    • Preferred: Proficient with PageUp or other Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Ellucian Banner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Society for Human Resource Management – Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Directly related talent acquisition experience.
  • Working knowledge of labor markets, recruiting practices and effective social media recruitment tools and marketing resources.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, local laws and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with demonstrated ability to positively interact with candidates, hiring managers, and senior leaders, and understand the needs of all.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality when dealing with information.
  • Sound judgement. Attention to detail. Exceptional analytical and collaboration skills, able to think strategically, creatively, independently, and as part of a team.
  • Ability to contribute to concurrent projects, working proactively, prioritizing competing assignments, and managing workloads effectively.

Physical Working Conditions

  • The role primarily involves working in an office environment.
  • Will require travel to different locations across the College.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
