Job Summary

This is a full-time position working under the minimum supervision of the Maintenance Manager or designee. Responsibilities would include performing complex inspections, servicing, and repairing of all heating, cooling, ventilating and mechanical systems equipment; including trouble shooting and diagnosing equipment failure and maintaining a preventative maintenance program. Perform assigned tasks to maintain the physical operations of the college, and ensure a safe environment of students and staff in accordance with the College’s mission, vision, and core values.

Job Duties

  • 35% - • Work with minimal supervision to inspect, troubleshoot and repair commercial HVAC equipment to include the following examples: various types of split systems, packaged rooftop units, heat pumps, DX systems, chiller, boiler, fan coil units, (BAS) electrical control systems, and other mechanical equipment. - (Essential)
  • 35% - • Perform and maintain a preventive maintenance program on multiple types of HVAC systems. - (Essential)
  • 10% - • Troubleshoot and repair control circuitry and refrigerant circuitry - (Essential)
  • 5% - • Maintain accurate maintenance and refrigerant records on equipment. - (Essential)
  • 5% - • Perform other related duties or special projects, as assigned. - (Marginal)
  • 5% - • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, or install all associated with electrical systems, (i.e., electrical circuits, fixtures, outlets, timers, motor controls, electric motors, etc.) - (Marginal)
  • 5% - • Maintain plumbing systems to include fixtures, piping, water heaters, wastewater and drainage. - (Marginal)

Minimum Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• 5 plus years of direct experience in commercial/industrial HVAC.
• EPA Certification
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associates degree in HVAC Technology or related field or equivalent HVAC related trade Journeyman program.
• Certified HVAC mechanic
• Experience in building and/or energy management systems.
• Experience with RTU, air handlers, split systems, chilled water, or boiler systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Working knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and equipment.
• Ability to evaluate HVAC equipment and diagnose causes of breakdowns, test parts with appropriate instruments, disassemble and assemble parts, and make necessary repairs to equipment and associated components.
• Skilled in use of associated HVAC tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Repair or adjust valves, piping connections, fittings, and couplings.
• Knowledge of BAS and DDC system controls.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics related to HVAC systems, controls, and equipment.
• Ability to maintain records of repairs, refrigerant logs, and equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.
• Ability to successfully complete assignments using appropriate methods, materials, tools and equipment in maintenance work as described above.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to perform light to heavy manual labor for extended periods of time under some unfavorable climatic conditions.
• Ability to work in an on-call capacity and inclement weather duties.

Pay Rate: $41,213 - $49,456 Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.
