The University of Iowa’s Department of Health and Human Physiology invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, open-rank instructional track faculty position in Sport and Recreation Management (SRM) for the academic year 2025-26, beginning August 20, 2025, renewable for a total of three years (2026-29) and renewable thereafter in three-year increments. Applications are sought from candidates with a demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching in three or more courses from the following list of SRM courses:

  • Contemporary Issues in Sports
  • Managerial Operations in Sport and Recreation
  • Sales in Sport
  • Communications and Public Relations in Sports
  • Design and Management of Sport and Recreation Facilities
  • Sport Business Practices
  • Sport and Recreation Promotion
  • Finance in Sport and Recreation
  • Recreation Administration
  • Programming for Recreational Services
  • U.S. Recreation and Parks: Foundations and Impact
  • Travel and Tourism

Required Qualifications

  1. A master’s or doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, JD) in sport management, recreation management, business administration or a related field of study is required in hand by the start date. 
  2. A demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching in three or more courses from the following list of SRM courses:
    • Contemporary Issues in Sports
    • Managerial Operations in Sport and Recreation
    • Sales in Sport
    • Communications and Public Relations in Sports
    • Design and Management of Sport and Recreation Facilities
    • Sport Business Practices
    • Sport and Recreation Promotion
    • Finance in Sport and Recreation
    • Recreation Administration
    • Programming for Recreational Services
    • U.S. Recreation and Parks: Foundations and Impact
    • Travel and Tourism

Desirable Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of professional experience in the sport and recreation industry.
