Job Summary:

The Program in Computing for the Arts and Sciences in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan seeks applicants for a full time Lecturer I position to teach three introductory courses. Responsibilities:

The Lecturer will teach three introductory courses in a studio-style 90-minute combined lecture and lab session twice per week, hold office hours, supervise 2-4 instructional assistants for each course, and handle routine matters related to instruction. All instruction will be in-person and on-site.

About the Program in Computing for the Arts and Sciences:

The Program in Computing for the Arts and Sciences (PCAS) is an interdisciplinary program in computing education developed specifically to meet the wide range of needs of undergraduate students in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA).  PCAS is coordinating and expanding the teaching of computational methods and digital studies across the arts and sciences. We are working toward a future in which every LSA student feels confident in their abilities to understand, design, and employ computational methods and digital tools both effectively and critically.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a graduate degree in any field in the liberal arts or sciences, computer science or information, or STEM education, and an extensive background in computing and programming for the humanities and sciences. Teaching experience at the college/university level is required.  Applicants will be selected based upon demonstrated subject matter expertise, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and program needs.

Desired Qualifications:

At least two years of experience teaching courses in computing, digital media, and digital studies at college/university level is preferred.
