Job Summary

UK HealthCare is seeking a Medical Health Physicist to support the UK HealthCare Radiation Safety Program. Qualified individuals will have a Master’s degree in Health Physics, Medical Physics, Radiological Science or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience. This position will provide services and coverage across the HealthCare enterprise in a variety of Medical Health Physics work areas in the identification, remediation and control of radiation hazards including radioactive materials, machine produced ionizing radiation and laser safety. This position is patient and provider facing and focused on the clinical environment. The Medical Health Physicist reports to the UK HealthCare Associate Chief for Radiation Safety and is housed under Performance Services.

This position will spend some of its effort actively supporting clinical x-ray operations and data systems.



Eligibility for ABMP or ABMP is strongly desired.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Experience in health physics, radiation safety, quality assurance/compliance testing for X-ray producing devices. Experience with internal radiation dosimetry using MIRD methodology, and radiation dose calculations from external sources are highly desirable.

Preferred Education/Experience

Masters Degree in Medical Physics, Health Physics or Radiological Science is preferred with experience in the medical field. Certification by ABMP, ABHP or equivalent is desirable.
