Job Summary

Office of State Archaeology (OSA), a component of the Department of Anthropology, seeks a student assistant to digitize archaeological data from site records and technical reports into a statewide geographic information system of archaeological sites and survey areas in Kentucky. The database is used by archaeologists, governmental land managers, and historic preservation specialists to fulfill their obligations under the National Historic Preservation Act and for academic research. Duties include database entry, document scanning, digital mapping and data quality management. 



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Experience with or ability to learn Microsoft Access database, ArcGIS, and EndNote bibliographic software; knowledge of Kentucky archaeology, good organizational skills and ability to work independently.
