PART-TIME EVENING INSTRUCTOR-TECHNOLOGY FOUNDATIONS

HOURS: Approx. 4 hours per night, 2 nights per week SHIFT: Evenings, 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
DAILY COORDINATION WITH: Technology Foundations Instructor
DIRECT SUPERVISON FROM: VP of Academics and Compliance
SUMMARY
The part-time, evening, Technology Foundations Instructor shall work in coordination with full-time Technology Foundations Instructor, teaching, and guiding students in the areas of essential reading, writing and math skills. This work is essential to preparing students to succeed in their chosen programs of study. The adjunct instructor will provide instruction and guidance to students at two primary locations: one (1) evening per week at the Franklin County Extension Campus in Winchester and one (1) evening per week at the Shelbyville Main Campus in Shelbyville.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Postsecondary degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university.
- 3+ years of practical experience teaching essential reading, writing, and math skills.
- Ability to be certified, as required, to administer tests within one (1) calendar month of hire date.
- Must commit to remain certified to administer tests.
- Travel to Shelbyville and Winchester campuses is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Classroom experience and administrative experience in delivery of workforce education and competency-based training preferred.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES
- Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office programs and other basic computer software needed for the teaching profession.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships and to deal tactfully with students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and the public.
- Strong interpersonal skills; effective oral and written communication skills; and excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly, and to plan and direct the work of others, as evidenced by an interview and teaching presentation.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain an organized, safe, and stable learning environment.
- Utilize in-class assessment tools/techniques to measure student achievement of course competencies.
- Administer/proctor tests for students.
- Utilize Banner to record and submit grades and attendance (tardiness and absences) daily.
- Distribute student syllabus at the beginning of the course to define course competencies, performance criteria, established approved grading procedures and standards, attendance and class policies/procedures, and other necessary information to students.
- Providing guidance to students regarding course progress, and academic and disciplinary issues.
- Coordinate all disciplinary issues with administration and Student Services Coordinator.
- Coordinate the need for supplies with the instructor and make recommendations for items needed for the program.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Adhere to the school calendar and class schedule.
- Start and end class at designated time.
- Perform student surveys each trimester.
- Participate in regularly scheduled staff climate surveys.
- Check and respond to emails twice daily.
- Coordinate necessary absences with VP of Operations and to coincide with student breaks.
- Other duties as defined by administration.
TIMELINE: Applications will be reviewed immediately and accepted until filled.
HOURLY WAGE: $25-$30 dollars per hour, commensurate with experience and TBR/Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
