Required License/Registration/Certification
Registered with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire. National Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) by either PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) required within 6 months of hire date.
Physical Requirements
This position requires use of a computer workstation, completion of tasks with repetitive motions, and occasional pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds. This position also requires significant walking each shift. This position may require personnel to wear personal protective equipment to reduce risk of exposure to work-related hazards (e.g. handling of hazardous medications).
Shift
Monday through Friday (75 hours per pay period or bi-weekly). Variable hours may be required for select aspects of program.
Job Summary
UK HealthCare is seeking motivated, patient-centered individuals interested in pursuing a career as a pharmacy technician. The UKHC Pharmacy Technician Academy will allow you to enjoy the pay and benefits of a UK employee, while also receiving on the job training, hands-on experience, and instructor guided learning. In addition, you will have access to numerous resources and study materials. The program is 16 weeks long, and is designed to prepare you for the National Pharmacy Technician Certification exam. As a Pharmacy Technician Academy employee, you will train and work as a full-time team member within the Department of Pharmacy Services. There are a variety of different pharmacy technician roles within the department in both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will gain exposure to these different settings of pharmacy through program participation. This program is unique to UK HealthCare in that the department covers the cost of the program and certification exam as long as certain criteria are met.

This position requires dependability, attention to detail and the ability to prioritize. The successful candidate must be hard-working, efficient and an excellent communicator.
