Job Summary
This position involves the design and implementation of novel methods for processing unstructured text (such as clinical documents) and semi-structured data (such as address data).
This position will leverage the latest methods in natural language processing (NLP), geospatial analyses, data science, and biomedical informatics with the goal of supporting data-driven research in the biomedical domain. Emphasis will be placed on healthcare, public health, and substance use disorders domains.
Responsibilities include:
- Implementing novel solutions to research questions in the application domains listed above
- Software development and maintenance of public-facing code repositories for the research community.
- Disseminating findings through publications and presentations.
- Mentoring junior lab members where appropriate.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Candidates must have experience working with large, unstructured or semi-structured data sets. Strong Python and database skills are required. Ideal candidates will have experience building and tuning machine learning models. Writing proficiency and familiarity with technical writing is required for dissemination efforts.

Preferred Education/Experience
PhD degree in computer science, biomedical informatics, data science, statistics, or applied mathematics is required. Exposure and experience in natural language processing is preferred.
