Professor of Practice in Information Systems and Business Analytics

The Woody L. Hunt College of Business at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position in Information Systems and Business Analytics. We seek a dynamic and experienced individual with a substantial and proven track record in information systems, data analytics, business intelligence, and artificial intelligence. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing our information systems and business analytics programs and supporting our students and faculty across the University in these endeavors. Hiring decisions are subject to final budget approval. The expected start date is January 2025.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate courses in information systems, business analytics, and related fields.
  • Develop and implement experiential learning opportunities.
  • Mentor students and guide projects related to information systems and data analytics.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance the information systems and business analytics curriculum and integrate real-world experiences.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the business community
  • Engage in community outreach activities to promote information systems and business analytics.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities as required.


Job Requirements:
  • MBA, Ph.D., or equivalent advanced degree in Information Systems and Business Analytics or a related field.
  • Substantial and proven experience in information systems, data analytics, business intelligence, and artificial intelligence.
  • Strong network within the information systems and business analytics ecosystem, including connections with IT professionals, data analysts, and business leaders.
  • Excellent teaching and mentoring skills with a passion for student success.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and the broader community.
  • Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional certifications (CompTIA Security+, Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate, Microsoft Office Specialist).
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Python, SQL, R).
