Position Summary
St. Anthony Catholic High School, a private, college preparatory High school for young men and women, is seeking a Religion Teacher. All teachers are expected to teach within the mission of St. Anthony Catholic High School and our Core Values of Honesty & Integrity; Community; Service & Social Justice; Scholarship; and Holistic Education. The Religion Teacher reports to the School Principal.
St. Anthony Catholic High School prepares young men and women for positions of responsibility and leadership through a college preparatory curriculum based on Catholic values and traditions.

St. Anthony Catholic High School a private college preparatory Catholic co-ed high school and a division of the University of the Incarnate Word.

Essential Functions


Job Duties


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced understanding of key principles of teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Ability to plan and deliver detailed and well thought out lessons with an understanding of learners’ needs, utilizing an extensive range of teaching techniques.
  • Ability to create assessments that accurately measure students’ learning.
  • Full knowledge of the teachings of the Catholic Church, subjects taught, instructional methods/strategies, and curriculum differentiation.
  • Knowledge of child/adolescent development, learning, and behavior.
  • Ability to manage student behavior in classroom setting.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
  • Ability to work well with others in the school community.
  • Skills in handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skills in pacing and differentiating instruction.
  • Skills in motivating and engaging students in the learning process.
  • Skills in organizing and relating information in an understandable format.
  • Skills in job appropriate technology.
  • Skills in critical thinking and planning.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.


Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Theology or related field with 18 credit hours in Theology/Religious Studies.

Required Work Experience
Practicing member of the Catholic faith.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience teaching Religion.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
The Archdiocese of San Antonio requires non-certified teachers to have 12 hours of education. Faculty hired without the 12 hours are placed on a deficiency plan and must obtain the 12 hours within two (2) years.

Work Hours
Mon to Fri 7:45 am-3:45 pm (see faculty handbook)Some night and weekend work dependent on student activity sponsorship and special events such as Open House.

Physical Demands
Typical for faculty in this discipline with chapel duties.
