Wright State University's Boonshoft School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry is seeking a part-time (0.40 FTE), academically-minded faculty physician passionate about furthering the community-focused academic, research, and clinical missions of WSU BSOM. The Department of Psychiatry is currently considering Associate and full Professor candidates under the WSU BSOM Faculty & Clinical Affairs policies regarding rank.

As a member of the Psychiatry faculty team, this position will have opportunities to directly contribute to academic development, learner experiences, community-based research, and community-based academic programming.

This Research Faculty position is a part-time, 0.40 FTE appointment, with a predominate focus on seeking and securing funded research opportunities, starting with an allocation of protected time that is made up of existing/transferring funded research effort and grant writing effort and with a goal to have research effort externally funded over time.

Approximate effort breakdown:

  • 20% research mentorship - ongoing expectation to provide effort towards faculty and learner mentorship on grants, grant writing, clinical research, etc.
  • 15% research and academic administration - ongoing miscellaneous administration, not including funded effort for funded research grant administration.
  • 5% department committees, meetings, activities, and other duties as assigned.

Our community-based medical school, Boonshoft School of Medicine (BSOM), est. 1973, is affiliated with six major teaching hospitals, two federal institutions, and over 30 other healthcare institutions. BSOM learners get focused training with a community-based, diverse set of patents, practices, and facilities. BSOM has 13 accredited residency programs and 10 accredited fellowships, with opportunities for growth. BSOM helps educate over 212 graduate students, 510 medical students, and 488 residents & fellows each year.

Wright State Physicians is the practice plan for Wright State University Boonshoft of Medicine. We employ well over 100 BSOM-affiliated physicians across a wide range of specialties and clinical missions in a wide range of specialized diagnostic and treatment services throughout the greater Dayton, Ohio region. We have multiple clinical locations in the greater Dayton area and are heavily integrated into the area's hospital systems.

Required Qualifications:

Prior to the effective date of appointment*, successful candidates must have:

  1. MD, DO, or MBBS degree.
  2. Completed Psychiatry Residency
  3. Board Certification in Psychiatry (or Board-Eligible)

Successful candidates will receive offers contingent upon satisfying these requirements prior to their start date.

Associate Professor candidates will additionally need to meet the time of service and publication requirements by their start date, as outlined and governed by WSU BSOM Faculty Affairs policies:
