Physical Requirements

Ability to perform the physical requirements necessary for the position including but not limited to: walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, sitting on the floor and in small children’s chairs, getting up and down from the floor, and lifting children and equipment. Must also have the capacity to provide the children with a speech/language model.

Job Summary

The University of Kentucky Voice & Swallow Clinic, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, College of Health Sciences seeks a motivated healthcare professional to fill a full-time Clinical Speech-Language Pathology position. This position will provide diagnostic and treatment services for a wide range of voice, upper airway, and swallowing disorders to an outpatient Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery population in an exciting state-of-the-art Voice & Swallow Clinic. Experience in the following areas is ideal: Voice evaluation and rehabilitation with a variety of evidence-based voice intervention methods, rigid and flexible endoscopy in adult and pediatric populations, laryngeal dystonia and vocal tremor, EILO/ILO, chronic cough/throat clearing, acoustic and aerodynamic voice analysis, pediatric voice evaluation and treatment, gender-affirming voice care. Additional interest in clinical instruction and mentorship of graduate speech pathology students, medical students, and residents is desired. Experience with videofluoroscopy/FEES and head & neck cancer is an advantage, but is not a requirement. In addition to the above, one of the essential functions of this position is to perform outreach and extension to develop inter-professional community partners. The successful applicant must possess or be eligible for Kentucky State licensure. Applications from ASHA-certified (CCC-SLP) providers or Clinical Fellows are welcome.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Expected clinical skills also include assessment and treatment for vocal cord dysfunction, dysphagia, voice disturbance due to Parkinson’s disease, and nasality.
