Job Description

Job Summary:

Provide direct customer service to admission applicants, enrolled students, parents, alumnae, staff and other callers as the first point of contact for all SFS services. Respond to questions and resolve issues related to financial aid, educational financing and student billing inquiries through in-person contact, phone, email or direct mail. Have specific responsibility for SFS technical processes, as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for the SFS office. Answer questions concerning student accounts, financial aid, and educational financing; refer issues to other staff for resolution if necessary; make appointments.
  • Assist applicants with completion of aid requirements.
  • Provide assistance to people accessing SFS information on the Smith website.
  • Document student records as appropriate.
  • Perform processes including, but not limited to, the following areas of responsibility:mail, e-mail, outside aid, staff schedule management, sibling verification process, accounts receivable, document scanning, indexing and tracking.

Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses):

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience working with diverse backgrounds.

  • Strong basic math skills.

  • Proficient computer skills including Word and Excel.
  • Able to handle a high volume of customer contact, work under the pressure of deadlines, and maintain strict confidentiality.
