Title: Supervisor of Custodial Services

Institution: Volunteer State Community College

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the daily supervision of all custodial functions at the college. This supervisor is also responsible for maintaining the needed cleaning supplies, equipment, and paper products. A very important aspect of this job is to make sure all classrooms, conference rooms and space set-ups are performed in an efficient, accurate, and timely manner.

Job Duties:

Order inventory and track material and supplies essential to the cleaning of all campus buildings. Train and supervise employees in the proper use and care of all custodial equipment. Ensure that the custodial staff adheres to all safety rules and procedures related to custodial operations. Provide, or coordinate, Health & Safety training for Custodial staff. Ensure proper storage of equipment, materials, and supplies. Assign and track all campus event set-ups and tear downs. Communicate with individuals in a one-on-one or group setting in person or by telephone. Confer with administrators, faculty, and other groups to resolve issues and coordinate custodial maintenance projects. Train, assign, and inspect the work of the custodial staff to ensure the quality of work and performance of the employees. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public. Must work cooperatively with other divisions and the public. Read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Plan and organize work to meet schedules and timelines. Respond to security and emergency calls in a timely manner. Occasional travel to regional campuses to inspect the cleanliness of facilities is required. Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Four years of custodial or related work experience in a higher education or professional business environment.
One year of supervisory experience.
Must possess a valid Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.
Strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks and ability to work independently.
Ability to move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, long and short distances.
Ability to climb multilevel stairwells, walk long distances and/or remain in a standing position for extended periods.

Pay Rate: $51,857 - $64,821 annual salary depending on experience
