TL serves the campus community through three pillar program areas: Academic Preparation & Achievement (APA), Integrated Success Coaching (ISC), and Peer Supported Learning (PSL). As a member of the TL team, undergraduate student employees will serve as peer leaders who contribute to TL’s mission of creating opportunities for student success through academic support initiatives and work to foster a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.

TL employs undergraduate students in the following positions:
  • Front Desk Ambassadors serve as students’ first point of contact when entering TL spaces and establish a pleasant and enjoyable environment for students. Ambassadors support all TL services by managing the check-in/out process, referring students to services, answering questions, and assisting students on a need-by-need basis. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with light office tasks, marketing efforts, and answering the phone.
  • The Study Peer Tutors provide drop-in academic support for undergraduate students enrolled in many 100 & 200 level math, science, and business courses. Peer Tutors assist small groups of students in fully understanding concepts, completing assignments, studying for exams, and honing their study skills. Peer Tutors are responsible for providing guidance through course content and support students in developing as independent learners.
  • Presentation U Peer Tutors provide one-on-one and small group tutoring on multimodal communication assignments (oral, written, visual, digital) for courses at any level and in any subject. Peer tutors will work with students through active listening, goal setting, and probing questions to support them through the creative process. Peer tutors should be resourceful and dedicated individuals with a demonstrated commitment to academic success.
  • Supplemental Instruction (SI) Leaders are trained to plan and facilitate weekly active learning study sessions for students enrolled in SI supported courses. SI study sessions integrate the review of course content with effective learning and studying strategies. SI Leaders do not lecture or teach new course material but provide students with the tools they need to understand and process course material themselves.
  • Marketing Ambassadors TL’s Marketing Ambassadors help build brand awareness of Transformative Learning through promoting and advertising TL services & programs across campus to the UK community at large. Students can expect to gain experience with public speaking, social media management, graphic design, press release writing, copy writing, promotional material distribution, event planning and general branding for the department.
  • Peer Accountability Community (PAC) Leaders play a pivotal role in guiding peers toward their goals through weekly 90-minute PAC sessions, where students work together to overcome challenges like procrastination, enhance academic success, and establish effective goal-setting routines. PAC Leaders guide their groups through a structured curriculum designed to foster accountability and growth among peers.
