Job Summary

Big Sandy Community & Technical College is seeking a Visual Communications Instructor and Print Shop Specialist. The primary purpose of this position is multifaceted due the to various roles that serve as integral parts of this position. The multifaceted primary purpose of this position is to educate students for the visual communication workforce as an instructor, to oversee all aspects of the program as the coordinator, to develop aspects of marketing and printing and to meet the need/demand for such services as the director of marketing (graphic design) and printing services, and to work with industry and advisory board committee members to ensure the program is up to date with industry standards as the curriculum committee chair of visual communications.

Job Duties:

  • Teach at least three (3) program courses (per semester) offered in the visual communications program as determined by need and advise program students.
  • Manage the budget (instructional & marketing/printing) for the program; order supplies; troubleshoot production problems and technology issues; and maintain equipment, computers, and software.
  • Work with industry and advisory committee members to ensure the program is up to date and meeting the needs of the local visual communications industries.
  • Supervise the program instructors, complete all reports for the program, and oversee/schedule at least two (2) advisory committee meetings each academic year (i.e. one per semester).
  • Form relationships with and work with four-year universities to secure transfer agreements for seamless transfer of program students.
  • Install graphics at various campus locations, organize photography and video projects, and provide print services for marketing the technical programs of the College.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree with emphasis on Visual Communications, Marketing and Supervision and 1-2 years related experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree with emphasis on Visual Communications, Marketing and Supervision and 4 or more years related experience.
