Job Summary

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides health sciences advising across all campuses. Builds relationships with assigned students to help them achieve their identified goals and objectives as they apply to and are enrolled in a health sciences program. Reviews student progress, including tracking and maintaining records of student conversations and use of recommended academic support service referrals and opportunity programs. Assists selected students in identifying factors that contribute to a lack of academic progress, helps students examine alternatives and applies appropriate retention strategies to support students’ efforts.
Strategizes with faculty and staff as needed to improve and/or support student success. Supports and participates in annual recruitment and enrollment of new students by providing pre-advising and/or career advising for selected programs, coordinates campus events for potential health sciences students, attends career fairs to promote Nashville State health sciences programs and participates in other promotional/recruitment activities. Attends monthly TBR Relational Advising meetings and all other related trainings. Job Summary
Generalist Tutor Focus on English and Writing *Must be a current SKYCTC student. *Submit resume, references, cover letter and unofficial college transcript.




Job Duties:
Tutor will be available to tutees, to work with them in-person or virtually. The candidate may also be scheduled to work some office hours in the computer lab to assist walk-in students. The tutor must be responsive to tutor requests and be able to meet them within 24 hours of request.




Minimum Qualifications:
The basic required skills for project tutors are as follows: • A minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA in his/her major area of study • At least 15 earned hours of college credit in area of specialization • Strong oral and written communication skills • Genuine concern for his/her assigned tutees • Ability to meet with assigned tutees regularly weekly or bi-weekly • Dedicated to meeting agreed upon goals • Ability to keep tutoring records • Willingness to go above and beyond to help students &nbsp;




Preferred Qualifications:
Tutors will be carefully selected from candidates familiar with general education courses and have demonstrated proficiency** in the area in which they desire to tutor. Ability to tutor in English and Writing is preferred. Tutors are required to furnish a cover letter that supports their ability to teach and work with students, go through a personal interview and general orientation prior to employment by the project. Additional tutor training will be available and scheduled at least once over the course of the academic year. ** Proficiency means that the tutor has taken the course at an accredited college or community college and received an A or B. Specific courses of interest are English and Writing, General Education courses.
