We will consider highly qualified Dual-career candidates in medical physiology and/or pathology.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: <ul><li>Participate in teaching physiology, primarily within the pre-clinical curriculum;</li><li>Develop and prepare teaching materials (presentations, lectures, exam items, etc.).</li><li>Develop and maintain educational materials, including correlations to Osteopathic Principles and Practice.</li><li>Demonstrate professionalism as defined by the KansasCOM declaration of faculty professionalism and responsibility.</li><li>Serve as a student advisor and mentor, including promoting and mentoring student research.</li><li>Participate in prospective student interviewing.</li><li>Serve on selected departmental, college, and faculty committees and task forces.</li><li>Participate in and deliver professional development for KansasCOM.</li><li>Assist in accreditation, assessment, and quality improvement functions to include document creation, data collection and management, education of faculty as assigned.</li><li>Foster a positive culture amongst the students, faculty, and KHSU-KansasCOM staff.</li><li>Participate in professional activities, societies, and associations, enhancing personal and institutional recognition and standing.</li><li>Serve as requested/assigned, in academic leadership roles (Course Director, etc.)</li><li>Perform other related duties, as assigned.</li></ul>QUALIFICATION(S): <ul><li>A terminal degree (PhD, DSc, DO, MD, etc.) in physiology or a relevant related field from an accredited institution of higher education with appropriate experience for an Assistant Professor (or higher) position</li><li>A track record of academic experience in biomedical sciences education (medical school experience preferred).</li><li>Preference that applicant be qualified to work in the United States without sponsorship, however, the College will consider immigration sponsorship for highly qualified candidates. &nbsp;</li><li>Maintain appropriate licensure for practice in health care and be in good standing with all regulatory and licensing boards and agencies, as applicable.</li><li>Evidence of skills in technology applied to classroom work.</li><li>Demonstrated evidence and/or a plan for supporting students from diverse backgrounds in the academic community.</li></ul>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: <ul><li>Postdoctoral experience in the field of physiology.</li><li>Additional training or experience in educational theory and/or evaluation.</li><li>A record of success as a medical educator.</li><li>Experience using innovative teaching methods, which might include team-based learning, ‘flipped classroom’, problem-based learning, distance learning, interactive large group presentation, audience response systems, curriculum delivery systems.</li><li>Experience with curricular and instructional design.</li><li>Record of scholarly activity.</li></ul>KEY COMPETENCIES:<ul><li>Ability to work both individually and collaboratively within a dynamic, inter-disciplinary environment.</li><li>Leadership abilities in influencing and shaping performance.</li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills ,and enthusiasm to contribute to organizational growth and development.</li></ul>Kansas Health Science University offers a generous compensation and benefits package, as well as the opportunity to work for a leader in the field of education.
