Job Summary

Job Duties:
• Teach Class A, CDL training to students from a variety of backgrounds. Must be present on campus or training site for teaching. • Comply with all state and federal CDL/DOT requirements. Ensure program standards meet the Federal and State Training Provider Registry Requirements. • Assist with instructional training modules and monitor student skills/progress while maintaining student files. Track student completion and learning outcomes including grades, graduation requirements, and performance tracking. • Assist with counseling students concerning the program, their progress and completion requirements. • Escort students to Kentucky State Police testing facility and prepare them for successful completion of the Class A, CDL driving test. • Participate in student and employer recruiting as well as participate in team planning meetings. • Other duties as assigned 




Minimum Qualifications:
• Must hold a valid Kentucky Class A, CDL license with a minimum of 5 years driving experience and over-the-road CDL driving experience. • Ability to effectively communicate with and respond to diverse populations and situations that arise. Ability to think quickly and respond appropriately in high-pressure situations. • Excellent organizational skills, time management, flexibility, and attention to detail. Ability to remain apprised of current industry standards and state laws and regulations. • In-depth knowledge of and ability to teach every aspect of truck driving. SUMMARY Part-time / Substitute Instructors are responsible for delivering quality instruction in their field of expertise as it relates to the programs offered at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Shelbyville, one of our extension campuses located in Winchester and Fayetteville TN., or at a specific teaching location.&nbsp;
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Credential from a technical or community college, teaching experience, and work experience in the area being taught.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
Three (3) years of related teaching/work experience
 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

RESPONSIBILITIES

<li>Maintain an organized, safe, and stable learning environment.</li>
<li>Utilize in-class assessment tools/techniques to measure student achievement of course competencies.</li>
<li>Administer/proctor tests for students and outside organizations.</li>
<li>Utilize Banner to record and submit grades and attendance (tardiness and absences) daily.</li>
<li>Distribute student syllabus at the beginning of the course to define course competencies, performance criteria, established approved grading procedures and standards, attendance and class policies/procedures, and other necessary information to students.</li>
<li>Demonstrate a commitment to student success by providing guidance to students regarding course progress, and academic and disciplinary issues.</li>
<li>Coordinate all disciplinary issues with administration and Student Services Coordinator.</li>
<li>Coordinate the need for supplies with the instructor and make recommendations for items needed for the program.</li>
</ul>
SPECIFIC DUTIES
<ul>
<li>Adhere to the school calendar and daily class schedule.</li>
<li>Start and end class at designated time.</li>
<li>Perform student surveys each trimester.</li>
<li>Participate in regularly scheduled staff climate surveys.</li>
<li>Check and respond to emails twice daily.</li>
<li>Coordinate necessary absences with VP of Operations and to coincide with student breaks.</li>
<li>Work a maximum of 20 hours per week.</li>
<li>Other duties as defined by administration.</li>
</ul>
AVAILABILITY/CLOSING DATE:&nbsp; This posting is not a guarantee of an open position. Tutors work with Disability Services, Writing Centers, Math Labs, and as imbedded peer tutors in certain courses. Tutors are needed for all campuses in a variety of subjects.

Minimum Qualifications:
A student with the ability to communicate and work well with others. Students will need to demonstrate knowledge level by attaching an unofficial copy of transcripts to his/her/their application.
