Job Summary
Part time faculty are hired as needed on a semester-to-semester basis and typically teach up to nine credit hours during the semester. Columbia State offers classes at five campuses: Columbia Campus, Williamson Campus, Lawrenceburg Campus, Lewisburg Campus, and Clifton Campus. Columbia State also offers classes at several off-campus locations and clinical sites.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Sociology (or a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Sociology).

Salary is $545 per credit hour. Workload adjustments will be made for faculty teaching classes where the number of contact hours exceeds the number of credit hours. Additionally, a travel stipend may be negotiated at time of hire for faculty traveling more than 80 miles each week to teach their classes. For part-time faculty who continue to work at Columbia State, salary is based on collegiate level teaching experience documented during the first semester of teaching.
Part-Time Faculty Duties and Responsibilities
The part-time faculty member reports directly to the dean for assignments/duties and is responsible for:

<li>Preparing for courses as assigned and adhering to departmental course syllabi and course minimum student learning outcomes.</li>
<li>Beginning and ending all classes as schedules.</li>
<li>Organizing, assigning, and supervising learning activities of students in his/her classes.</li>
<li>Maintaining academic standards and classroom behavior to ensure an environment conducive to learning. Evaluating students using a variety of methods and for informing each student of scores received on each assessment in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Maintaining accurate records of student attendance/participating and grades.</li>
<li>Reading Columbia State email and responding to student questions via email in a timely manner.</li>
<li>Meeting deadlines for all administrative requests such as submitting personnel paperwork, student enrollment</li>

2024 Part-Time Temporary - Tutor (Pool)&nbsp;
The Teaching &amp; Learning Center staff is comprised of professional and student tutors.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and computers helpful. Must enjoy working individually and in small groups with students.
Hours worked may vary, but will not exceed 29 hours per week.
Tier 1 - Student Tutors or Tutors with less than a Bachelor's degree:
Criteria: Must have completed courses in the tutoring field with an A, and Overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
Tier 2 - Professional Tutors:
Criteria: Tutors with a Bachelor's degree or above in the tutoring field or closely related discipline. Preferable to have teaching or tutoring experience.

Title: Student Services Specialist I, Southeast Campus (Part-time Regular)
POSITION SUMMARY This front desk position will be the first point of contact for new, continuing and prospective students. It is responsible for assessing student questions and determining the appropriate actions to take, as well as providing the information needed to enroll and be successful at Nashville State.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides general information regarding admissions, financial aid, career services, and student records to prospective students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Provides student-centered services via various platforms while maintaining a professional and congenial demeanor. Processes student requests for enrollment services. Assists students with using computer kiosks for admissions and financial aid services.
Schedules appointments, coordinates access and distributes documents to other departments across campus. Helps facilitate the resolution of student issues. Captures, reports and evaluates feedback for services provided in each student interaction. Collaborates in the evaluation of creative approaches to promote/advertise NSCC to prospective students.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma
Minimum two years’ customer service experience
Proficiency in basic computer software
Excellent oral communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Associate’s degree or higher
Two years’ experience working in higher education
Multilingual, preferably in Spanish and/or Arabic
Experience with Banner
General knowledge of student services policies and procedures
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Intermediate to advanced computer skills. Aptitude for analyzing student questions and requests. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
