Position Summary: The overall purpose of this job is: The Testing Center is responsible for the testing activities of PSCC. These primarily include administration, proctoring and proper security of testing materials. We also administer basic skills assessment tests, class testing for teachers including on line courses, testing for off campus agencies, other colleges and universities and the administration of DSST and CLEP exams.
Typical Duties &amp; Responsibilities:
85% Test Administration
1. Operates Testing Centers with or without Testing Technician I (checks in students, pulls student tests, finds passwords, handles student/instructor concerns, seats examinees, helps examinees log-on to computers, starts timing instruments as needed, collects completed tests and testing materials, watches examinees to ensure administration conditions are met in the Testing Centers, etc.).
2. Successfully complete requirement necessary to achieve certification to administer a number of standardized exams, such as CLEP, DSST, Pearson-Vue and HISET.
3. Explains individual testing requirements to students—procedures and resolves any misunderstandings using appropriate customer service and management techniques. 4. Collaborate with faculty regarding test revisions, availability of tests, and guidelines and testing options for various tests.
5. Prepare an Incident Report to document irregularities, testing discrepancies, or dishonesty and forward report and copies of pertinent materials to faculty and Test Supervisor.
6. Maintains an optimal testing environment that adheres to college, standardized and National College Testing Association (NCTA) standards.
7. Collaborates with Supervisor, Test Administrators, and other testing staff regarding improving/changing testing operations, staffing, and updating of Testing Center policies and procedures.
8. Provides information, clarification and advice to testing staff regarding test delivery, policies, procedures, test retrieval and use of specialized computer testing software.
9. Interprets often complicated procedures for administration of proctored tests from other colleges/universities and standardized testing companies; and comprehends delivery methods for several categories of tests, including classroom make-up, Internet, CBT, essays, pre-GED, and other remote/proctored exams delivered paper/pencil or computer-based format.
10. Helps maintain security and accountability of tests before, during, and after testing in compliance with established guidelines.

Job Duties

<li>100% - Must effectively communicate with students to help them learn complex subject matter while maintaining their professionalism. Tutoring sessions are typically scheduled for an hour. Tutors should be organized, patient communicators with a friendly and approachable disposition that lends itself to work with students of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. - (Essential)</li>

Minimum Qualifications
Successfully completed the course which will be tutored with an A or high B.
Pay Rate: Starting pay is $10.00. Pay is increased based on experience and level of degree obtained.
Schedule/Hours: No more than 29 hours may be worked a week (hours depend on budget availability and need). Hours are scheduled during normal business hours of 8:00-4:30, as well as evenings.&nbsp;&nbsp;

JOB SUMMARY
The primary role of the Academic Tutor is to provide content-specific assistance in the learning process to individual or group of students. This position requires the employee to have excellent communication, and social skills and the ability to adapt his or her teaching methods to meet the needs of the student.&nbsp;
&nbsp;ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
<ul>
<li>&nbsp;Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to provide them with academic tutoring to improve their understanding of content, at all levels</li>
<li>Provide students with assistance in all stages of presentations and assignments</li>
<li>Use various teaching strategies to tutor</li>
<li>Keep records of appointments and student progress</li>
<li>Attend a mandatory tutor orientation at the beginning of each semester</li>
<li>Provide insight into academic needs of students and suggest strategies for addressing areas of student concern (i.e., learning, classroom behavior)</li>
<li>Monitor students and maintain a safe learning environment during program activities</li>
<li>Motivate and support students through positive feedback and reinforcement</li>
<li>Contribute to the college-going culture through informal mentoring with students</li>
</ul>
Non-Essential Functions:
Student Tutors may be asked to assist with additional tasks to support various departments in the college.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Writing tutor: Good academic standing (A or B) in Composition I and/or II. Be prepared to discuss at least two samples of writing that you have done in a college-level course. Have excellent essay writing and grammar skills.
Biology tutor: Good academic standing (A or B) in General Biology, or Anatomy and Physiology I or II, or Microbiology (depending on tutoring subject). Expert and responsible use of microscopes and anatomy models.
Chemistry tutor: Good academic standing (A or B) in General Chemistry, Introductory Chemistry, or Organic Chemistry (depending on tutoring subject). In the case of an embedded tutor, be available for hands-on lab assistance a couple of hours per week.
Computer Skills tutor: Good academic standing (A or B) in any Information Technology course.
Be highly skilled in Microsoft applications and basic computer skills.

JOB STANDARDS/QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>High School diploma or in-progress&nbsp;</li>
<li>Proficiency in use of Google Suite and Microsoft Suite</li>
<li>Community college experience and knowledge of Banner software preferred</li>
<li>Have A's and B's in the coursework that you are going to tutor in</li>
<li>Be available to work a minimum of 4 hours a week</li>
<li>Be able to communicate clearly</li>
<li>Ability to work with minimal supervision</li>
<li>Be enrolled in a college or university, preferred</li>
<li>Be able to collaborate with teachers, and students</li>
</ul>
