Reporting to the Associate Director of Mechanical Building Systems, the Manager of Facility Systems is responsible for assisting in strategic planning, design, modernization, installation, operation, and maintenance programs for portfolio-wide building systems, including HVAC, mechanical, and building automation (DDC). The FAS facilities portfolio includes 250+ buildings, approximately 10M sq. ft.Position DescriptionOperations, Construction, and Service Support <ul><li>Plans and provides direction for the repair or replacement of mechanical equipment and systems.</li><li>Plans and develops day-to-day mechanical preventative maintenance plan to ensure mechanical equipment is operating to optimal performance.</li><li>Monitors and maintains building systems performance across the portfolio by analyzing data.</li><li>Assists with long-term planning for mechanical systems. 22-Nov-2024<h4>Electromagnetics Shop Engineer</h4>Faculty of Arts and Sciences 67443BRPosition DescriptionReporting to the Harvard Quantum Initiative’s Executive Director, the Electromagnetics Shop Engineer will provide technical oversight, instruction, and management of a new electromagnetics facility. They will hold primary responsibility for all aspects of the electromagnetics shop, overseeing day-to-day operations and providing long-range strategic planning. The Electromagnetics Shop Engineer is responsible for setting up and equipping the shop, developing shop processes, training researchers, including graduate and undergraduate students, and collaborating with researchers to design and build optical systems.<ul><li>Provide guidance to researchers, including faculty, postdocs, and graduate and undergraduate students on the design and build of optical systems, managing simultaneous complex designs.</li><li>Evaluate, procure, install, maintain, monitor, and participate in the selection of state-of the art optical instrumentation equipment; other specialized instrumentation, and/or mechanical, electrical, or plumbing (MEP) systems needed to support instrumentation.</li><li>Coordinate with vendors, as needed, for equipment inspection, repair, and service contracts.</li><li>Provide technical oversight and training to researchers to advance knowledge of the equipment, instruments/systems, and lab-specific safety protocols and best practices. The program provides funding for training and mentoring and since its establishment in 2008, the program now has 61 scholars from 21 countries. &nbsp;Position DescriptionThe Program Coordinator will perform a wide range of complex and confidential administrative and clerical duties to support the administration of the Lown Scholars Program. The Program hosts 8-10 Scholars each year in July and requires more hours during this month.
