Salary Range: $50,000.00 – $55,000.00Minimum Education and/or Work Experience:Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Counseling or related field required and one to two years of related experience.Duties and Responsibilities:<ul><li>Care for students (juniors, seniors, and transfer students in the School of Communication) through individual academic advising sessions, imparting a working knowledge of degree requirements and opportunities for students to achieve their academic, career, and life goals.</li><li>Assist, challenge, and support students in identifying and clarifying academic, career, and life goals and offer appropriate motivation and encouragement.</li><li>Be a proactive and constructive participant within an advising team dedicated to student success.</li><li>Accurately and efficiently communicate transfer credit and remaining degree requirements (Core, school-specific, and major requirements) for a timely graduation using online and off-line resources.</li><li>Understand, convey, and implement academic policies, procedures, and protocols to students, parents, faculty, and other stakeholders, while upholding FERPA requirements and the highest ethical standards.</li><li>Assist students in resolving administrative issues related to their academic records and assist with the various duties related to course registration issues.</li><li>Maintain and update student records, such as meeting notes, records relating to degree progress, correspondence, and other documentation when appropriate.</li><li>Prepare, deliver, and review graduation audits and audit checks for caseload of advisees.</li><li>Identify, monitor, and provide guidance to students on academic probation. Make probation and dismissal recommendations.</li><li>Refer students directly to appropriate campus and off-campus resources to support their academic success.</li><li>Assist with initiatives on a departmental and inter-departmental level that support persistence through graduation.</li><li>Present workshops on topics such as academic planning, transfer-student transitions, and student life in the SoC.</li><li>Work with School of Communication program directors and administrative staff to ensure accuracy and consistency in communication of program requirements.</li><li>Assist with the planning and implementation of advising programs and outreach including new-student orientation, academic probation advising, and academic alerts.</li><li>Create forms and other processes to improve graduation audits and other aspects of using LOCUS to streamline office procedures.</li><li>Articulate and support the vision and the mission of the university.</li><li>Meet regularly with prospective students and their families.</li><li>Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to a fast-paced, changing environment where responsibilities and duties may frequently change.</li><li>Represent SoC on Undergraduate Advising Council, as well as various SoC committees.</li><li>Some weekend and evening hours are required.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Diversity and Inclusion Statement:Diversity, Equity, and InclusionAs one of the nation’s largest Jesuit, Catholic universities, Loyola University Chicago fosters a transformative cultural experience that honors <a href="https://www.luc.edu/diversityandinclusion/" target="_blank">diversity, equity, and inclusion</a>.
