Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) seeks a Senior Director of Research Administration to&nbsp;lead the strategic operations of the research administration function within the School. Reporting to the Dean for Research, the&nbsp;Senior Director is responsible for sponsored and non-sponsored research activities, including grant proposal submissions, grant management, and gift and discretionary fund management. The Senior Director leads a team of 30+ staff, which supports 100+ ladder faculty, their lab groups, and principal investigators (PIs). This position works closely with the SEAS administrative lead for research policy, who is responsible for research policy and compliance functions. The Senior Director of Research Administration builds strong and effective relationships with faculty, staff and stakeholders, representing SEAS within Harvard and externally.Research Administration Leadership and Team Management:&nbsp;<ul><li>Oversee a complex portfolio of pre- and post-award activities across multiple sponsors including NSF, NIH, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, NASA, etc., and non-sponsored funding for PI’s.</li><li>Provide leadership and staff management, including hiring, onboarding, training and development, portfolio assignment, workload balancing, workflow, performance management, and problem solving.&nbsp;</li><li>Foster an inclusive and innovative work environment. Build a positive and supportive culture of community. Promote an environment that is agile and responsive to change.</li><li>Handle employee relations. Resolve interpersonal situations within the team and between the team and other stakeholders. Work with human resources and other resources as needed.&nbsp;</li><li>Ensure team structure is effective and efficient; manage team growth and develop a strong talent pipeline. Serve as a mentor.</li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve pre-award, post-award, and non-sponsored funding issues, working within SEAS and Harvard.</li></ul>Research Administration Business Process Oversight and Continuous Improvement:<ul><li>Responsible for the smooth and efficient functioning of SEAS research administration business processes.&nbsp;</li><li>Evaluate systems and processes; identify risks, solutions and strategies to continuously improve operations. Work with other offices to improve processes related to procurement, vendor setup, travel/reimbursements, etc.</li><li>Collaborate with colleagues to clarify roles/responsibilities between offices.</li><li>Direct and oversee pre- and post-award processes, and non-sponsored funding.</li><li>Develop and refine processes (e.g., timelines/deliverables for proposal submissions and grant reporting; onboarding/offboarding faculty related to sponsored/non-sponsored funding; repositories, etc.).&nbsp;</li><li>Develop systems to track metrics. Compile and deliver reports and updates for SEAS leadership.</li><li>Collaborate with colleagues and University partners on research administration business procedures. Senior Director of Research Administration

As a shop technician, you will guide students, faculty, and staff in their use of the shop's tools as well as its techniques and best practices. You will manage the shop's inventory using WebCheckout, ensure supplies are available for student projects, and help troubleshoot technical issues to enhance the learning environment. You will maintain the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of the shop equipment; provide outstanding customer service and help SCAD students from all academic departments meet their goals with shop resources; and anticipate and enforce all shop policies, procedures, and safety measures. You will also assist faculty with class demonstrations and equipment setup and help students with basic fabrication issues and the correct operation of shop equipment.In this position, you will help the shop manager with basic training and the onboarding of new staff to proactively prevent potential safety issues. You will assist with the loading, unloading, and processing of delivered materials and equipment; provide required data to the shop manager, including up-to-date inventories, late return fines, and headcount data; and identify and develop solutions to improve shop functionality and efficiencies. You will attend all shop meetings and university-sponsored safety and security training sessions and provide backup operations support during times of high demand. Job Summary
The Workforce Liaison III position is responsible for developing new programs, training, recruitment, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and successful completion of workforce projects for Workforce Solutions. The ideal candidate for this position is a highly organized individual with proven experience in sales, project development and management, and a technical background.




Job Duties:
This position is part of the Workforce Solutions Division serving business and industry, as well as the community, through customized training, continuing education, community education, apprenticeships, and new program development. The Workforce Development Liaison’s major job responsibilities include:
 • Meet with employers to determine their employees’ training needs, analyze skill gaps, and design customized workforce solutions to meet their needs. This may include any combination of testing, training, job profiling, career services, apprenticeships and enrollment in regularly scheduled college courses.
 • Prepare employer program proposals and secure contracts to deliver credit and non-credit training on or off-site.
 • Plan, coordinate, and manage training offerings including the ability to secure and manage qualified and available instructors/adjuncts for Workforce Solutions classes, set up temporary classrooms at company facility, and market open-enrollment classes.
 • Pursue funding for training programs including but not limited to writing and securing KCTCS TRAINS funding and working with external workforce partners to secure funding.
 • Develop new short-term or academic programs that are requested by industry and work with industry partners and community leaders to secure funding or other resources needed to implement the program.
 • Attend community meetings representing Workforce Solutions and promoting SCC. Build partnerships external to the college that provide further promotion of Workforce Solutions services.
 • Build partnerships internally within the college that allow maximization of resources in serving our community; includes serving on various SCC committees and teams actively supporting internal initiatives.
 • Participate in career fairs, recruiting events, SCC Roadshows, and other community events to promote SCC and recruit students. 




Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university (technical, business, project management, or related field) and four years relevant experience or equivalent.&nbsp;




Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with five years relevant experience working as a project manager in business or industry; some sales experience; excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent, self-motivated, and ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment as well as external business and community partners, representing his/her self in a professional and courteous manner; ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally; ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, meet sales quotas, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy; good presentation skills.
