Our brain delivery platform enables these therapeutic advances by dramatically improving transport of drugs across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) into the brain. We are looking for a talented Scientist to support the development of our brain shuttle-mediated oligonucleotide platform, and to optimize our shuttles for oligonucleotide payloads in neurodegenerative diseases. Reporting to the Principal Scientist, you will work closely with our team using both in vitro cellular systems and in vivo humanized mouse models to optimize oligonucleotide delivery, along with other therapeutic applications of our shuttles.Position DescriptionWhat you'll Do:<ul><li>Optimize shuttles for therapeutic oligo payloads in specific disease conditions; select mouse disease models and validate novel shuttle-ASO fusion drugs in models of ALS, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and others</li><li>Contribute to the brain shuttle-mediated oligonucelotide delivery platform development.</li><li>Choose and adapt ASO production approaches from the public domain and prepare material either in-house or with a CRO.</li><li>Work with CROs to perform conjugation of ASOs with antibody shuttles, with traditional or novel conjugation chemistry(ies).</li><li>Design and execute in vitro and in vivo mouse studies to optimize and validate shuttle-oligonucelotide conjugates. The Director is responsible for the Medical Laboratory Technology program which grants degrees. The Director will lead, supervise, manage, and implement all aspects of the program, including classroom and online course development and instruction, curriculum development, marketing, recruitment and advising of students, budgeting, and faculty supervision and support, and revision/modification of all program components as needed. Position includes teaching responsibilities, including clinical practicum and capstone courses. The Program Director holds a 12-month faculty position with release time each term based on the size of the program, as determined by the Dean and VPAA. Job Duties:
Teach 38-42 TLE per year via on ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced modalities as assigned with both teaching and approved release time included in this expectation. Typically, program directors receive 3 TLE release time per term. Teach evening, weekend, off-campus, dual enrollment, and distance-based courses as required. Develop curriculum; evaluate and review of credit and non-credit courses; develop online classes as needed. Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree from an accredited institution. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a clinical laboratory, including teaching experience acceptable to the Tennessee Medical Laboratory Board. Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (active standing). Holds ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist. Licensed or eligible for licensure in Tennessee. Has knowledge of education administration as well as current NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures. Has documented evidence of continuing education in technical and educational methodologies to provide adequate and appropriate training in the areas of curriculum design and teaching techniques for medical laboratory personnel.
