If you have solid work experience and applicable skills in the fields/programs that we offer, we would like for you to consider sharing your knowledge on a part-time basis.&nbsp;
Minimum Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Minimum of three (3) years of approved employment experience in the occupation to be taught beyond the normal learning period</li>
<li>Evidence of strong work ethic as it relates to timeliness of reporting, oversight of multiple on-going projects, and the ability to work with others.</li>
<li>Proficient computer skills.</li>
<li>Ability to deal tactfully with the students, public, and co-workers; to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.</li>
<li>Possess valid TN driver’s license.</li>
</ul>

Preferred Qualifications:

<li>Diploma from an accredited technical college</li>
<li>Prior teaching experience, especially in a postsecondary setting.</li>

General Duties:
Adjunct Instructors are responsible for delivering quality instruction in their field of expertise as it relates to the programs offered at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology – McMinnville, our Coffee County Instructional Service Center, or at a specific teaching location.

<li>Examines, evaluates, and selects textbooks and reference materials commensurate to the course being taught.</li>
<li>Starts and ends class at designated time.</li>
<li>Utilizes individual and/or group instructional procedures appropriate to the requirements of the assigned activities and the student’s needs.</li>
<li>Supervises student conduct to ensure that the potentially hazardous shops/labs/classrooms provide an orderly environment conducive to productivity.</li>
<li>Maintains a well-organized, safe, and clean shop and/or classroom</li>
<li>Advises students of the importance of safety in relation to machinery, tools, and equipment.</li>
<li>Investigates and makes a full report on every accident on the day the accident occurs, using the “Preliminary Accident Report Form.”</li>
<li>Accepts responsibility for equipment, tools, and supplies assigned to shop and/or classroom.</li>
<li>Maintains an inventory of equipment, controls storage, repair, and usage of materials in order to minimize loss or abuse.</li>
<li>Keeps in contact with business and industry so that the curriculum can be updated to reflect changes in high-tech society.</li>
<li>Stays in close communication with the full-time program instructor and/or other adjunct instructors of the same course.</li>
<li>Keeps and shares with students continuously updated records of competencies acquired during their enrollment.</li>
<li>Evaluates each student’s progress at specific intervals (end of trimester) and completes permanent records.</li>
<li>Assists, as directed by administration, in follow-up evaluations of graduates and their programs.</li>
<li>Helps students, as opportunities become available and known, in job placement for both full-time and part-time employment.</li>
<li>Requisitions equipment, supplies, materials, and instructional aides as needed, working within the perimeters of school guidelines and available funds.</li>
<li>Participates as a member of various faculty/staff committees.</li>
<li>Participates in seminars, workshops, and conferences.</li>

Physical Demands and Working Requirements (ADA Requirements):
Walking, climbing, bending, and stooping. Work performed in office, classroom, and shop/lab environments. Position requires the use of a computer.
Pay Range: $25-$35 per hour depending on qualifications.
Employment Documents: Current federal law requires identification and eligibility verification prior to employment. Only U.S. citizens and aliens authorized to work in the United Sates may be employed. A criminal/financial background check will be required for applicants elected.
Background checks will be completed on all new hires. Instructors will be asked to sign a background release authorizing TCAT McMinnville to complete a background check which will include the following: Sex Offender Registry, Country Criminal, and Federal Criminal.

Title: Adjunct Instructor – Chemistry

 Position Summary: To provide quality instruction for student learning and to maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom. The major emphasis will be placed on teaching and evaluating students in the classroom and laboratories.
 Department: Natural &amp; Behavioral Sciences
 Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi. 2. Supervising the study and learning activities of students assigned. 3. Submitting requests through the department head, program coordinator, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids. 4. Evaluating the academic progress of students. 5. Demonstrating knowledge of services, regulations, and procedures as defined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook. 6. Submitting course grades and performing other administrative duties as required. 7. Scheduling two office hours. For extenuating circumstances in which office hours cannot be scheduled, the adjunct faculty member must submit a written plan to the Dean describing how students can access the instructor. Office hours are not paid during the summer session.
 Required Qualifications: Master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college/university with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the Chemistry teaching field
