SUMMARY
The Welding Technology Instructor shall be directly responsible to the institution administration for effective performance of assigned responsibilities and duties. The instructor shall observe rules, policies, and regulations set forth by the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Shelbyville (TCAT), Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), and the Council of Occupational Education (COE); and shall strive to promote and elevate the mission and philosophy of occupational education within the areas served. They shall keep abreast of industry standards and techniques by visiting industry partners, continuing education, and reviewing periodicals and industrial magazines commensurate to the course being taught.&nbsp; The instructor shall develop and maintain a complete progressive course of study, lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aides to meet educational requirements and industry standards. They shall also oversee student conduct, motivation, safety, discipline, and appearance, addressing issues as they arise. The instructor shall build and cultivate partnering relationships with schools, business, and industry partners to promote the ideals of occupational education and implement an effective placement program for students.&nbsp;
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

<li>High school graduate or the equivalent as determined by the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET)</li>
<li>AWS Certification Level I or ability to complete it within 12 months of hire date.</li>
<li>5+ years approved work experience in the occupation to be taught.</li>

RESPONSIBILITIES

<li>Coordinate all disciplinary issues with administration and student services coordinator.</li>
<li>Coordinate with Technology Foundations Instructor to schedule student instruction times.</li>

<li>Coordinate with the Recruiter to present program information and promote enrollment opportunities to traditional and non-traditional students and the community.</li>

<li>Establish a high quality, active Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC) per COE guidance and perform no less than two (2) OAC meetings per academic year.</li>
<li>Provide work-based learning opportunities to all students</li>
<li>Conduct follow-up on employment of graduates and maintain follow-up records on former students.</li>
<li>Be responsible for and maintain inventory, control, maintenance and light repair of all equipment, tools, and supplies assigned to the department’s classroom and lab. Report loss or damage immediately.</li>
<li>Be responsible for and maintain program budget to coordinate the need for equipment, tools, and supplies; make recommendations for and submit Purchase Orders for items needed for the program.</li>

Supports the purchasing and contracting activities of the college.&nbsp; Effectively, correctly and timely applies accounting principles to the maintenance of fiscal records and performing related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of a six (6) semester hour sequence of post-secondary level Accounting at a regionally accredited institution. Experience in increasingly responsible office work involving application of accounting principles and use of technology in support of Accounts Payable functions may be substituted for the required post-secondary education on a year for year basis.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist with compiling, preparing and submission of annual TBR reports, proper documentation of capital &amp; sensitive minor assets, and year end closing process.</li>
<li>Serves as backup for Purchasing/Contracts Specialist with purchasing inquires and approvals when necessary; serves as backup assisting employees with Banner Finance Self-Service and monthly reconciliations of accounts and provides training when necessary; assists with end of fiscal year data collection for encumbrances and accounts payable and assures that they are properly recorded in the financial records prior to preparation of financial statements.</li>

SUMMARY
The part-time, evening, Technology Foundations Instructor shall work in coordination with full-time Technology Foundations Instructor, teaching, and guiding students in the areas of essential reading, writing and math skills. This work is essential to preparing students to succeed in their chosen programs of study. The adjunct instructor will provide instruction and guidance to students at two primary locations: one (1) evening per week at the Franklin County Extension Campus in Winchester and one (1) evening per week at the Shelbyville Main Campus in Shelbyville.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
<ul>
<li>Postsecondary degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university.</li>
<li>3+ years of practical experience teaching essential reading, writing, and math skills.</li>
<li>Ability to be certified, as required, to administer tests within one (1) calendar month of hire date.</li>
<li>Must commit to remain certified to administer tests.</li>
<li>Travel to Shelbyville and Winchester campuses is required.</li>
</ul>
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li>Classroom experience and administrative experience in delivery of workforce education and competency-based training preferred.</li>
</ul>
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES
<ul>
<li>Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office programs and other basic computer software needed for the teaching profession.</li>

RESPONSIBILITIES
<ul>
<li>Maintain an organized, safe, and stable learning environment.</li>
<li>Utilize in-class assessment tools/techniques to measure student achievement of course competencies.</li>
<li>Administer/proctor tests for students.</li>
<li>Utilize Banner to record and submit grades and attendance (tardiness and absences) daily.</li>
<li>Distribute student syllabus at the beginning of the course to define course competencies, performance criteria, established approved grading procedures and standards, attendance and class policies/procedures, and other necessary information to students.</li>
<li>Providing guidance to students regarding course progress, and academic and disciplinary issues.</li>
<li>Coordinate all disciplinary issues with administration and Student Services Coordinator.</li>
<li>Coordinate the need for supplies with the instructor and make recommendations for items needed for the program.</li>
</ul>
SPECIFIC DUTIES
<ul>
<li>Adhere to the school calendar and class schedule.</li>
<li>Start and end class at designated time.</li>
<li>Perform student surveys each trimester.</li>
<li>Participate in regularly scheduled staff climate surveys.</li>
<li>Check and respond to emails twice daily.</li>
<li>Coordinate necessary absences with VP of Operations and to coincide with student breaks.</li>
<li>Other duties as defined by administration.</li>
</ul>
TIMELINE: Applications will be reviewed immediately and accepted until filled.
HOURLY WAGE: $25-$30 dollars per hour, commensurate with experience and TBR/Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
